The Blues Keep Mixing

The Blues Keep Mixing

Your eyes dart around the page, the blues keep mixing and changing, the light catches and a new layer is revealed.

Part of the Fluidity Series:

Fluidity

Noun

  • The ability of a substance to flow easily

  • Smooth elegance or grace

  • The state of being unsettled or unstable; changeability

This series looks at the balance of control between paint and painter and reflections of life. The unpredictability of the ink, it's instability contradicted in an elegant and beautiful image. It mirrors life, the changeability and uncertainty, hope and clarity.

  • About

I'm inspired by the materials that create the work, I love pushing the paint around but also letting it move on its own.

I love seeing how colours glisten when wet but become translucent when dry.

I'm interested in the balance between what you can and cannot control; life, nature and paint!

I love how a choice of colour can transport you to a memory, or a shape can send you off in a dream.

I find inspiration everywhere but am particularly drawn to nature, landscapes and the sea.

My work is sometimes abstract sometimes expressionism and sometimes abstract expressionism. Or simply put I rarely do realistic paintings. It’s about movement, materials, emotion and the impression of spontaneity.
