Solace in Blue, is part of the moments collection. Playful hints of aqua blue subtly grace the canvas. A deep inviting area of indigo is embraced with blends of saturated colour. A powerful brush of sweeping white bursts through the space and is supported by warming tones to the east.

- Paper -

Don’t be put off by the word paper, it’s actually 308gsm so think of it as a thick card that measures a few mm thick.

I picked Hahnemuhle Photo Rag Paper because it is known for creating great reproduction of detail which is fantastic for capturing brush strokes. Not only does it give perfect colour quality the paper is made to be age resistant meaning your print will look fresh for years. The paper is also 100% cotton rag. This gives it a slightly organic, soft feel to touch and makes it feel much more luxurious than a simple paper print you would pick up from any mass produced retailer.

- The Ink -

Giclée is a special fine art printing method that creates gallery quality reproductions using special archival inks; studies have shown the colour vividness can last over 200 years and at least six times longer than lithography

- Inspiration -

We've both been here, it's not a place, it's a point in time; a moment. As we walk along, splashes of colour fracture the surface capturing a sensation, a moment of joy, feeling content. This piece overlaps with the horizon series which explored the connections with nature and the meditative value of looking towards a horizon and the grounding it gives. Theres something calming looking out to sea. There is a point at which you know things continue but you can't see it; where the sky blends into the sea. It reminds you of trust, of believing in your instincts and to have faith that if you keep going things will become clear.

The natural world is a great inspiration in my work. However, the act of painting is as important when creating. I manipulate the materials, sometimes allowing them to move freely and other times directing them into a space; a balance of control between paint and painter. In this painting the feeling of movement is evident. I'm fascinated about how paintings can evoke memories and feelings.

- Size -

All prints come with borders, I feel it helps give space to the print. I also can sign on the edge. However it also helps for when you frame the work as it will allow for mounting or an overlap on the edge. If you really don’t want a border contact me and I can print without.
